Machine Tree Removal Around Shelby, NC

Tree removal in Shelby, NC is machine work for us. We take down leaning, dead, dying and storm-downed trees on open ground. The machine works from the base of the trunk, so nobody has to climb. Trees come down where we want them, then get cut up and loaded out.

We own our machines. That list includes a tracked forestry mulcher, excavators, skid steers with root grapple, and a dozer with root rake. Grapple trucks haul the wood off, and a lowboy brings the machines in. We work Shelby and about 25 miles out, from Kings Mountain and Gastonia to Rutherfordton and Grover.

How The Tree Comes Down

We look at the tree first, and at the ground around it. The lean and the room around it decide which way it falls. Dead pines break apart easy, so we plan for pieces coming off early. You hear the plan before a machine moves.

We work on open ground. A tree leaning over your roof or a power line needs a climbing tree service with ropes and rigging. That is slow, careful work, and our machines are not built for it. Big open-ground tree work is our side of the job.

Out in the open, most trees come down with an excavator or a skid steer at the base. Bigger trunks get cut low and steered into the clear. Once the tree is down, we cut the trunk into pieces we can move. Limbs go through the forestry mulcher or into a pile.

Grapple trucks load the wood and haul it off the property. You can keep firewood on site if you want it. What is left is level ground and a cut stump low to the dirt. Stump grinding is a separate job and we come back for it.

What Changes The Price Of Tree Removal?

Tree count and trunk size set the base. One big oak by itself costs more than several small pines in a row. Height and lean decide which machine we bring. Dead and rotten wood can slow the work down, because it breaks apart.

Volume is where the price per tree drops. Ten or twenty trees, or a whole stand, is our best work. Machine removal beats a climbing crew per tree once the count climbs. The machines are already set up and the wood moves fast.

Access changes how long we are there. A tree we can reach with a skid steer is quick. A tree behind a barn, or down in a wet bottom, takes longer to get to. Soft red clay after a rain can hold us up a day or two.

What happens to the wood also moves the price. Hauling it out with grapple trucks costs more than mulching it where it falls. Some want every stick gone off the property, and others are fine with a chip layer left down. Estimates are free, and we give you the number after we look.

Who Calls Us For Tree Removal Around Shelby

Storm damage is a big part of the work. Hurricane Helene came through in September 2024 and put trees down across the western counties. We are still cleaning up behind it. One Shelby job opened the way back to a creek and the woods behind the house.

Dead tree removal is the other steady call. Beetle kill keeps showing up across the Carolinas, and a dead pine near a driveway is a problem. Leaning trees do the same after a wet week in this red clay. We take them down before the wind picks the day.

Fence lines are another one. Vines and saplings take over a line until you cannot see the wire. We cut it back and pull the roots off the posts. We cleaned roots and vines off a house wall in Shelby, and that job comes up often here.

Builders and land owners call us before a pad goes in. Trees come off the footprint and the wood leaves with us. If the whole lot has to go, that is land clearing, and we cover it separately. We do this work in Kings Mountain, Boiling Springs, Lincolnton, Cherryville, Dallas, Bessemer City, Forest City, Spindale and Lawndale.

We look at every job in person. Call (704) 600-8146 and we will come out and give you a price on the trees. Estimates are free and we carry full insurance. LDS Solutions is veteran owned and operated, with a 5.0 rating on Google.

FAQ

Tree Removal Questions, Answered

Common questions about tree removal across Shelby, NC and 25 miles around. Don't see yours? Give us a call and ask.

Call (704) 600-8146

Do you take down a single tree, or only big jobs?
We do both. One dead or leaning tree is a normal call. We can often be in and out in a morning. Machine removal saves the most on multiple trees or a whole stand. Either way, we come look first and the estimate is free.
How fast can you get out after a storm?
Storm tree cleanup moves to the front of our list. We have been working Helene damage in the western counties since September 2024. These calls are routine for us. Call (704) 600-8146 and tell us what is down and where. We will give you the soonest day we can be there.
What happens to the wood and brush?
You pick. Grapple trucks can load the trunks and haul everything off your property. We can also run the limbs and brush through the forestry mulcher and leave chips on the ground. Some people keep the trunks for firewood, and we stack those where you want them.
When should I call a climbing tree service instead?
Call a climbing crew when the tree hangs over your house, your shop or a power line. That work is done with ropes and rigging from up in the tree, and it is a different trade. Our machines need open ground and room to drop the tree. We will tell you which one you need.
Do you grind the stumps too?
Tree removal leaves a stump cut low to the ground. Stump grinding is a separate service and a separate trip, and we do it. Tell us when we come out for the estimate and we will price both together. Most people get the trees down first and the stumps after.
