We look at the tree first, and at the ground around it. The lean and the room around it decide which way it falls. Dead pines break apart easy, so we plan for pieces coming off early. You hear the plan before a machine moves.

Out in the open, most trees come down with an excavator or a skid steer at the base. Bigger trunks get cut low and steered into the clear. Once the tree is down, we cut the trunk into pieces we can move. Limbs go through the forestry mulcher or into a pile.
Grapple trucks load the wood and haul it off the property. You can keep firewood on site if you want it. What is left is level ground and a cut stump low to the dirt. Stump grinding is a separate job and we come back for it.
Tree count and trunk size set the base. One big oak by itself costs more than several small pines in a row. Height and lean decide which machine we bring. Dead and rotten wood can slow the work down, because it breaks apart.
Volume is where the price per tree drops. Ten or twenty trees, or a whole stand, is our best work. Machine removal beats a climbing crew per tree once the count climbs. The machines are already set up and the wood moves fast.
Access changes how long we are there. A tree we can reach with a skid steer is quick. A tree behind a barn, or down in a wet bottom, takes longer to get to. Soft red clay after a rain can hold us up a day or two.
