Demolition in Shelby, NC

Demolition · Shelby, NC

Demolition contractor serving Shelby and Cleveland County

Demolition is steady work for us around Shelby, NC. Most jobs are old structures that outlived their use. That means a barn with a sagging roof, or a single wide on land you just bought. We bring in the excavator, take the building down, load the debris, and haul it off.

We are a demolition contractor, and we own the machines this work takes. Excavators do the take down, and grapple trucks sort and load the debris. Skid steers finish the cleanup, and the lowboy moves everything in and out. We work a 25 mile radius from Shelby, out to Kings Mountain, Boiling Springs, Gastonia, Lincolnton, Cherryville, Dallas, Bessemer City, Forest City, Rutherfordton, Spindale, Lawndale and Grover.

How a demolition job runs

We start by looking the structure over. Size and materials shape the plan, and so does how we get a machine to it. Power, water, gas and septic get shut off and marked before anything moves. On old farm places those lines were run years ago and never mapped, so we take our time.

Take down comes next. The excavator pulls the building apart in sections and drops it where we can reach it. A small shed or barn can be down in a couple of hours. A house with a foundation under it takes longer.

Then we load out. Grapple trucks pick the pile apart and sort as they go. Scrap metal goes one direction, and the rest goes off site. Nothing gets buried on your land or pushed into a gully out back.

Last comes the cleanup. We fill the hole and push the dirt back level with the dozer. From there the spot can go into a rebuild pad or back to open ground. Grading for a new pad is its own step, and we handle that too.

LDS Solutions is veteran owned and operated, and fully insured. If something changes on the job, you hear it from the person running the machine.

What drives the price of demolition?

Size comes first. A 12 by 16 shed and a two story barn are not the same job. What the building is made of matters just as much. Wood frame comes apart fast, while heavy timber and metal take more time and more sorting.

Haul distance is the next piece. Debris has to go somewhere. The farther the landfill sits from your place, the more trips it takes. A job in Shelby or Boiling Springs runs shorter trips than one out past Rutherfordton.

Foundations change the number too. Some people want the footings dug out and the hole filled in. Others leave the old pad for a new building to sit on. Digging a foundation out means more machine time and more material to haul.

Access matters as well. A building sitting out in the open is simple work. One tucked between a house and a power line takes slower, careful machine moves. We look at all of it on site, and the estimate is free.

Who we do demolition for around Shelby

A lot of this work starts with a land purchase. Someone buys a few acres outside Lawndale or Cherryville and inherits a barn nobody has used in years. The roof is half gone and the floor is not safe to stand on. We take it down and clear the spot.

Farm buildings are the biggest share. Old barns and sheds sit on land all over Cleveland, Gaston, Lincoln and Rutherford counties. Most were used hard and then left alone for years. When one starts leaning toward a fence line or a road, it's time.

Mobile home demolition comes up often. Old single wides sit on family land around Kings Mountain, Grover, Bessemer City and Spindale. Some are past repair. Some are sitting right where a new house needs to go.

Fire and storm damage is the other one. A burned house or a condemned building has to come down, and it won't wait. Helene left damaged buildings around Forest City and Rutherfordton that owners are still dealing with. Call (704) 600-8146 and we will come look at it.

FAQ

Demolition Questions, Answered

Common questions about demolition across Shelby, NC and 25 miles around. Don't see yours? Give us a call and ask.

Call (704) 600-8146

Can you tear down an old mobile home?
Yes. Mobile home demolition is regular work for us. We pull the skirting and tie downs, then break the unit down with the excavator. The grapple trucks load it, and the frame and metal leave with us. What you get back is an empty, level spot.
Where does the debris go?
It leaves with us. Our grapple trucks sort the pile as they load. Scrap metal goes to the scrap yard, and the rest goes to the landfill. Nothing gets buried on your land or pushed into a ditch out back. Haul off is part of the demolition price we quote you.
Do I need a permit, and what about asbestos?
The county sets the rules for taking a structure down, and we work with you on what yours requires. Asbestos surveys and abatement happen before we start, through the proper folks who handle that work. Once the structure is cleared for demolition, we bring the machines in and get after it.
Do you take out the foundation too?
That's your call. We can dig the footings out and fill the hole back in with clean dirt. Or we can leave the old pad in place if you plan to build on it again. Tell us which one you want, and we price the job that way.
How long does a demolition take?
Most small buildings come down in one day. A shed or a single wide is often a few hours. A barn or a small house can take a day or two. Foundation removal and a long haul add time. We give you a schedule when we come look at the site.
